Hindalco Commissions India’s First PPT ATH Plant in KarnatakaIn August 2026, Hindalco Industries Limited commissioned India’s first Superfine Precipitated Aluminium Trihydrate (PPT ATH) manufacturing plant at Belagavi, Karnataka. The new facility marks an important step in strengthening India’s specialty materials sector and supports the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. The greenfield plant has an initial production capacity of 30,000 tonnes per annum, which can be expanded to 60,000 tonnes in the future. Notably, the facility operates entirely on renewable energy, making it an environmentally sustainable project. What is PPT ATH?PPT ATH is a Halogen-Free Flame-Retardant (HFFR) material used in cables, insulation products and polymers. It helps suppress flames, reduce smoke and prevent the release of toxic gases during fire incidents, improving safety standards. The plant manufactures Hindalco’s InnoSafe Superfine PPT ATH, developed through the company’s in-house research and development efforts. The facility uses automated process controls and integrated systems to ensure high-quality production and efficient use of raw materials.
