Banas Bio-CNG Model Plant Inaugurated in Banaskantha, GujaratA new Banas Bio-CNG Model Plant has been inaugurated at Vinchhivadi in Dhanera taluka of Banaskantha district, Gujarat, marking an important step towards clean energy and a circular economy. The plant is a joint initiative of Banas Dairy, Suzuki Motor Corporation and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). The project aims to convert cattle dung into useful energy and organic fertiliser while creating an additional source of income for livestock farmers. It also highlights how dairy farming can contribute to India’s clean-energy transition. Banas Bio-CNG Plant:The plant uses anaerobic digestion to process cattle dung and produce Bio-CNG. It has a capacity to process around 100 Metric Tonnes Per Day (MTPD) of cattle dung. The process not only generates clean fuel but also produces organic fertiliser, which can be used in agriculture. This creates a circular model in which cattle waste is converted into valuable products. The plant was inaugurated in the presence of Shankar Chaudhary, Chairman of Banas Dairy; Toshihiro Suzuki, Representative Director and President of Suzuki Motor Corporation; and Dr. Meenesh Shah, Chairman and Managing Director of NDDB, along with other dignitaries.
